Introduction

Our client's Secure Government business unit is growing fast and they're looking for Data Architects to join their multi-disciplinary Solution Design team.

The team is working on high-impact digital transformation programmes within highly secure government environments.

You will need proven experience as a Data Architect or Engineer in a secure government environment and have experience with data modelling frameworks like DAMA, DCAM or TOGAF, and be comfortable designing conceptual, logical and physical data models using tools like ERwin, Sparx EA or ArchiMate.

Working Patterns and location - Hybrid - 3-4 days on site per week, more during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

  • Define enterprise and solution-level data architectures across complex, mixed-technology environments.
  • Design conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to strategic business outcomes.
  • Lead data discovery, profiling and requirements analysis activities with client stakeholders.
  • Develop data standards, governance models, metadata frameworks and master data strategies.
  • Design data pipelines, integrations and data flows across systems and domains.
  • Produce data architecture artefacts in line with business strategies and relevant frameworks.
  • Balance technology, security and business needs to deliver effective, compliant data solutions.
  • Support data-driven digital transformation and enable modern analytical capabilities for clients.

Skills & experience

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, Analytics Consultant or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture frameworks and modelling techniques such as DAMA, DCAM or TOGAF.
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling tools including ERwin, Sparx EA, ArchiMate or UML.
  • Experience designing enterprise data flows, integrations and data pipelines across complex environments.
  • In-depth understanding of data management principles including data quality, metadata and master data.
  • Broad knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Understanding of data security-by-design, privacy and governance aligned to government standards.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting skills with ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
  • Experience working within Defence, Security and Intelligence, or regulated government markets.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, BI tools and automation within data-driven analytical environments.
  • Knowledge of streaming, event-driven architectures, API-led integration and data virtualisation.
  • Experience working within Agile, SAFe or Scrum delivery frameworks.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies such as IoT data processing and edge analytics.
  • Degree in a science, computing or engineering subject, or equivalent professional experience.
