We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established financial services organisation in Sydney, currently investing heavily in their engineering team as they build out a modern, cloud-native platform.

This role is genuinely backend-heavy (roughly 80% backend, 20% frontend) and centred on integration work, connecting systems, building and consuming APIs, and moving data reliably between platforms. The backend is actively shifting toward C#/.NET as the primary direction, with a solid amount of legacy React/TypeScript/Node.js still in production that continues to need support.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs primarily in C#/.NET
• Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and third-party providers
• Work across AWS infrastructure, contributing to and maintaining Lambda- and ECS-based services
• Write and optimise SQL against relational databases
• Support existing React/TypeScript front-end code where required
• Collaborate with product owners, designers and engineers within an agile squad
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to CI/CD practices

What we're looking for:

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET / .NET Core
• Solid AWS experience, ideally including Lambda and ECS
• Confident, hands-on SQL experience, schema design, query writing, and performance tuning
• Working knowledge of React and/or TypeScript
• Genuine experience with API design and system integration work
• Comfortable operating within an established framework rather than driving architecture, this is a hands-on delivery role, not an architecture-first position
• Financial services or another regulated industry background is a plus, not a requirement

Working arrangement: predominantly office-based, 4-5 days a week expected, particularly in the initial months.
