Job Purpose
The Banking Graduate Trainee Programme (BGTP), jointly organized by Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Bank, aims at nurturing a sustainable pipeline of young talents for the banking industry. Recruited graduate trainees will gain concrete work experience and build their competence via industry-related professional training. They will also get coaching and performance feedback from mentors/ supervisors to facilitate their career and personal growth.
Apart from a series of in-house training and centralized trainings organized by HKMA & professional bodies, the Bank will support graduate trainees to attend selected professional training for building their professional competence.
Hong Kong residents graduating with a bachelor/master’s degree from local or overseas universities in 2021 or 2022 are welcome to apply for the positions categorized in three business streams below:

Responsibilities
1. Fintech Trainee, PBG Business Transformation
• To support various Fintech initiatives to build and grow our virtual banking model, the role sits with the business and may need to work closely with our internal stakeholders, in-house technology partners and/or external vendors offering broad exposure and learning experience through project assignment.
• Assist in project development on new digital initiatives, including creation of new innovative product and service, data analytics, digital customer onboarding journey, mobile payments and any digital / Fintech related projects.
• Provide support on research for Fintech trends
• Develop customer experience diagram / wireframes / UI UX / prototypes for new initiatives
• Participate in end-to-end process of project development lifecycle and any internal or regulatory process using Agile methodology
2. Fintech Trainee, Information Technology Group
• Provide support on the latest technology studying and prepare relevant presentation
• Participate in the full system implementation life cycle (SDLC) including design, development, SIT, UAT and system implementation
• Assist with functional reviews and acceptance testing during the software development lifecycle
• Work closely with project team to draft prototype, screen flows, project documentation, and maintain consistent business communication with end user
• Provide support on the evaluation of software packages and recommend ready-made solutions to meet business needs
• Participate in the discussion on technical solution and operational flow for the new initiation
• Support the preparation and completion of project documentation and reporting on project progress, cost, risks, issues and dependencies
3. Operations Process and Data Analytics Trainee, Operations Management Group
• Review process and procedures and recommend ways that can help streamlining process and automating manual activities by Agile Approach
• Develop and test data feature engineering process on big data platform
• Research and develop AI and advanced analytic models for bank-wide data quality improvement
• Research and develop AI and advanced analytic models to support FinTech development
• Support the team in the complete project management cycle with focus of FinTech and Robotic Process automation projects)
• Prepare procedural manuals and process review documents
• Participate in the implementation of projects
4. Graduate Trainee, Wholesale Banking Group (ESG focus)
• Support the Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) Team in structuring and executing sustainable finance transactions in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
• Develop sales enablement tools and materials to facilitate customer pitching and to promote the Bank’s ESG thought leadership.
• Assist in arranging the internal trainings to enhance the ESG knowledge of frontline staff.
• Conduct researches on ESG developments and disclosures.
• Support the team in developing and implementing the ESG strategic projects.
• Adhere and contribute to all reporting and disclosure requirements around Sustainable Finance.
5. Associate, Wholesale Banking Group
• Assist Relationship Managers on business development with focus on the Greater Bay Area by developing and maintaining business relationship with existing and potential corporate clients
• Provide support in the marketing and selling of corporate banking services and products offered by the Bank.
• Assist in performing financial spreading, credit risk and financial analysis, and preparing credit applications.
• Handle customer enquiries and/or transactions related to account balances, deposit renewals, loan rollovers, foreign exchange, etc.
• Assist in soliciting deposits during day-to-day contact with customers.
Requirements
1. Fintech Trainee, PBG Business Transformation
• Students graduating with a bachelor/master's degree, preferably in Business, Information Technology or related disciplines
• Project Management experience is preferred
• Any skills or experience in programming / software development / mobile app development / data analytics (e.g. Python / R) / Business intelligence tools (e.g. Qlik / Tableau) / UI UX is a plus
2. Fintech Trainee, Information Technology Group
• Students graduating with a bachelor/master's degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related disciplines
• Strong IT background with experience and good programming skills is preferred
• Broad general knowledge, high versatility and good analytical ability
• A team player with a “can do” attitude, able to put on customer’s lens when defining the customer journey
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
3. Operations Process and Data Analytics Trainee, Operations Management Group
• Degree holder in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Business Information Systems or related disciplines
• Knowledge/strong interest and sense in digital and latest technologies
• Programming experience with Python is preferred
• Good analytical and problem solving skills with proactive mindset and attention to details
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
4. Graduate Trainee, Wholesale Banking Group (ESG focus)
• Degree holder in Environmental Studies, Engineering, Business Administration or related disciplines.
• Possess understanding on the industry and market developments relating to corporate banking and ESG will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
5. Associate, Wholesale Banking Group
• Degree holder in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related disciplines.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, highly resilient, demonstrating a strong desire to succeed.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
