Front-end developer
As a Frontend Developer, you are responsible for the technical design and implementation of the FNZ products. Our Frontend Developers contribute to our continuous improvement bringing fresh ideas and aiming to adopt state of the art technologies. We seek talents in the area of responsive, accessible and flexible web applications based on React, Vanilla JS, CSS and HTML.

Organisational Design

You will work in a self-organized team that takes care of developing applications from the initial design phase to the final release. You will interact with people in our different offices around the world and with different expertise. We strongly believe in team work and your team is responsible for the quality of the product it delivers.

Team Responsibilities

Delivery of software components and unit testing in line with quality and timeliness requirements

Specific Role Responsibilities

The key areas of responsibility are:
  • Architecture design and implementation of customer facing front-end
  • Design and build server components communicating with an API layer, handling and passing the data to the UI and presenting them to the user
  • Design and build the highly intuitive user interface and interactive financial tools required by financial advisers and investors;
  • Develop real-time transaction processing systems that support millions of trades every day in investment securities in multiple world markets; and
  • Work closely with our business analysts to design and implement new functionality for our major institutional customers around the world
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications
  • Develop unit tests to ensure required quality gateways are met
  • Execute best practice with regards software development
  • Take an active role in understanding the business domain and contributing to requirements gathering
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
  • Strict adherence to agreed standards and processes specifically SDLC, etc
  • Work effectively and continues improving of business knowledge and programming skills Delivery of agreed outputs within agreed timeframes or the successful negotiation of new time frames.
  • Actively communicating the status of assigned items of work to project team, project manager or Build Manager.
  • Participation in team activities
  • Actively seeking opportunities to provide assistance to peers.
  • Actively identifying and promoting opportunities for application efficiency improvements or performance improvements.
  • This role is in scope for activities which have an indirect impact on CASS processing which takes place within FNZ for FNZ and/or FNZ's clients. This role has a requirement to remain up to date with CASS developments and changes as communicated with FNZ.

Experience and skills required
  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable title.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
  • Good proficiency in Javascript, with experience in plain Vanilla JavaScript (no frameworks), HTML5, CSS and responsive design.
  • Knowledge of React and Typescript.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, Karma and Jasmine.
  • Experience with implementing accessible web applications.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals like object-oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithms.
  • Experience with Medium to large-scale standards-based web applications, conceptual design, and implementation of modern software architectures.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as GIT, Bitbucket or equivalent tools.
  • Experience in reading/writing technical requirements.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Any Java experience is a plus.
