Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. Global Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight. 

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our  team.

The Business Development Director, AMCH Wholesale Sales role will report into the Head Wholesale AMCH and is responsible for developing and growing the Wholesale Business in German-speaking Switzerland, mainly (but not only) focusing on Tier 2 and Tier 3 clients (Private Banks, Banks, Asset managers, Platforms, Independent Financial Advisors, Multi Family Offices, Singke Familiy Offices, Unit-linked business of Insurance Companies). 

 

In this role you will:

  • Establishing new business relationships and strengthening existing ones, mainly with Tier 2 and Tier 3 clients, whilst ensuring fair outcomes for all types of clients 
  • Communicating new products, propositions and relevant market information to clients
  • Proactively identifying sales opportunities including understanding the positioning for Alternatives products in the market, and developing these opportunities
  • Originating new Tier 2 and Tier 3 Wholesale clients in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Devising plans and strategies to generate new business, as well as increasing revenue for existing ones to achieve asset growth, sales or revenue targets
  • Driving Sales campaigns for Active, Long-only funds and Alternatives products in collaboration and in accordance with HSBC Global Asset Management’s Global Head of Wholesale Business
  • Working closely with the ETF and Index funds’ colleagues both in Switzerland and in the rest of the locations
  • Developing Alternatives strategies for the Swiss market and helping the Alternatives product team to develop the right products
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, which may include relationship managers and product specialists, to maximise cross-selling opportunities for the bank 
  • Participating in events, initiatives and activities to develop business opportunities
  • Developing and implementing distribution channel business development strategies
  • Protecting the bank's reputation and ensuring an acceptable risk profile whilst deepening your understanding of the client relationship
  • Contribute to developing all aspects of the Alternatives Business in Wholesale (internal & external) in German-speaking Switzerland


Principal Accountabilities

  • Business & Financial target delivery: Delivering the agreed financial and performance objectives for the Swiss Wholesale Client Business
  • Sales & Client Servicing: Execute a high intensity level of sales activities (number of meetings, phone calls etc.) and inputting them all in the CRM system. Driving the day-to-day sales activities and execution of the client servicing requirements
  • Group collaboration: Closely coordinate and collaborate with Global Banking and CMB Relationship Managers to introduce asset management capabilities to GB and CMB clients
  • Partnership and trust: Acting as a trusted partner for clients and offering the highest service standard 
  • Regulatory & FCC compliance: Delivering all Wholesale Client Business activities in compliance with regulations 
  • Global Standards: Ensuring that the Wholesale Client Business is aligned with HSBC standards and shareholder interests
  • The job holder must represent and be an ambassador for HSBC Global Asset Management business at all times

Customers / Stakeholders 

  • Establish and manage detailed Client plans and hold strategic level discussion with Clients to understand their needs and identify value add investment solutions  
  • Responsible for the client satisfaction of Wholesale clients (mainly Tier 2 and Tier 3) in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Develop strong relationship with members of the Wholesale business leadership team and other AM stakeholders across Investments, Alternatives, Operations and Marketing
  • Manage HSBC Group stakeholders’ relationships i.e. GRBs 

 
Leadership & Teamwork

  • Drive the commercial development of AM’s Wholesale Business in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Originate new clients in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Act with accountability, commerciality, diversity and client centricity
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Wholesale Business


Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ensure that all sales and client management processes are of the highest quality and in line with AM’s risk framework and applied consistently 

 


To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive cross functional experience in Asset Management and complex Alternatives products
  • Extensive understanding of investment management and Wholesale client needs
  • Highly experienced individual capable of engaging with complicated and sophisticated clients with international background
  • Excellent ability to interact with and manage key stakeholders
  • Being motivated and a reliable person to stakeholders
  • Self starter 
  • Track record in new business origination
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Having an stablished network of clients is a positive but not a must
  • Professional qualifications e.g. CFA, MBA, IMC are a positive
  • International Asset Management background in a culturally diversified environment
  • German language fluency
  • Due to immigration restrictions in Switzerland we will only be able to consider applications from Swiss or EU citizens or from candidates holding a valid Swiss work permit
