Our client, a leading global banking institution, is seeking a high-caliber Associate / Vice President to join its Corporate Development team in Singapore. The team is responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, and executing strategic transactions that support the bank's long-term growth objectives across Asia Pacific and other key markets.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Origination & Evaluation
- Identify and assess inorganic growth opportunities across priority markets and business lines.
- Conduct strategic, financial, and commercial analysis of acquisition, partnership, and investment opportunities.
- Evaluate target companies, fintech firms, financial institutions, and adjacent businesses for strategic fit and value creation potential.
- Develop investment theses and recommendations for senior management and investment committees.
Transaction Execution
- Lead or support transaction execution from initial screening through closing.
- Manage M&A, strategic partnership, joint venture, and direct investment processes.
- Coordinate due diligence activities across financial, legal, tax, compliance, regulatory, and operational workstreams.
- Negotiate transaction structures, key commercial terms, and definitive agreements alongside legal advisors.
- Prepare materials for internal governance and approval committees.
Strategic Partnerships & Joint Ventures
- Assist in sourcing, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships that enhance business capabilities and market access.
- Evaluate JV structures, governance frameworks, economics, and shareholder arrangements.
- Work closely with business unit leaders to develop partnership strategies and post-signing integration plans.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of strategic equity investments and partnerships.
- Support ongoing portfolio reviews and strategic assessments.
- Identify opportunities for value creation, restructuring, divestments, or capital redeployment.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with regional CEOs, business heads, finance, legal, risk, compliance, and strategy teams.
- Engage external stakeholders including investment banks, consultants, legal advisors, and potential transaction counterparties.
- Present analyses and recommendations to executive management and governance committees.
Requirements
Experience
- 3-7 years of relevant experience within:
- Investment Banking (M&A)
- Corporate Development
- Private Equity
- Principal Investments
- Strategy & Transactions Advisory (Big 4)
- Strategic Investments teams within Financial Institutions
Technical Skills
- Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
- Experience preparing investment committee and board-level materials.
- Solid understanding of transaction processes, due diligence, and deal structuring.
- Knowledge of banking, fintech, payments, wealth management, or financial services sectors is highly advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
