Alternative Investment Research Analyst Intern

The Intern will assist in conducting investment and operational due-diligence, covering both regulated funds (mostly UCITS funds) and unregulated funds (mostly hedge funds, CTAs, private equity and real estate) universes, focusing on the European/Asian fund managers. Assigning ranks and recommendations for all business lines of Natixis involved in investing in the funds (both in debt and in equity).

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating fund managers including the initial screening, qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Assist in conducting on-site meetings with fund managers and/or via conference / video calls.
  • Assisting in conducting the strategic and operational due-diligence of funds, peer group analysis, background and reference checks, third-party service providers due-diligence, etc.
  • Documenting in writing due-diligence reports and recommendations.
  • Participating in developing of house views on fund strategies and styles. Contributing to the production of the periodic strategy report.
  • Attending fund conferences and events organised by the capital introduction teams, consultants and fund managers.
  • Contributing to the development of the internal tools for the quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Providing assistance to the trading, structuring and sales colleagues in relation to the fund products, as and when requested.

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Understanding of a wide variety of financial instruments;
  • Basic knowledge of macro economy and drivers behind performance of various asset classes;
  • Working knowledge of financial statistics and methods of quantitative analysis;
  • Working knowledge of the European/Asian regulated fund industry or alternative investment industry (legal, operational and investment management aspects) is a plus;
  • Working knowledge of the US regulated fund industry or alternative investment industry (legal, operational and investment management aspects) is a plus;
  • Time and priority management skills;
  • Very good technical and Excel skills. Basic programming skills are preferred but not required;
  • Very good oral and written communication skills. Ability to write structured analytical and technical reports;
