A leading global insurer is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Consultant to join its high-performing team in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in strengthening governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business.Working within a collaborative and agile environment, you will have the opportunity to lead audits from planning through to reporting, provide valuable insights to senior leadership, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Your new role
- Planning, coordinating and delivering internal audit engagements from scoping through to reporting.
- Preparing audit programmes, work papers, testing documentation, and supporting evidence.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes.
- Identifying control weaknesses, operational risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Preparing clear and concise audit findings and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Monitoring and tracking audit actions to ensure timely remediation.
- Building strong working relationships across business units and acting as a trusted advisor.
- Supporting the ongoing development and execution of the annual audit plan.
- Working closely with external co-sourced audit providers where required.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practice.
- Proven experience in Internal Audit within insurance, financial services, professional services or consulting environments.
- Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk frameworks and control environments.
- Experience managing audits from planning through to completion.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification will be highly regarded.
- Salary package plus annual bonus.
