Senior Software Developer

What We Need

Corpay is currently looking to hire a Senior Software Developer within our Alpha division. This position falls under our Alpha line of business and is located in Chennai.

In this role, you will help evolve the platforms that power Corpay Cross-Border's international payments and foreign exchange capabilities. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex business-critical problems, improving established systems, and delivering secure, scalable software in a financial technology environment.

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and regularly collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, QA Engineers, business stakeholders, and other Software Developer s to design, build, test, and maintain applications that support real-world payment and foreign exchange workflows.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will include:
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather requirements and address technical questions.
  • Providing technical guidance to other developers, contributing to architectural decisions, and helping improve engineering practices across the team.
  • Breaking down technical work into actionable tasks to meet project deadlines and business objectives.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable front-end and back-end applications.
  • Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code by following Agile development practices, unit testing standards, continuous integration, and clean coding principles.
  • Participating in code reviews to maintain high-quality software standards.
  • Taking ownership of complex technical challenges from discovery through delivery while balancing maintainability, performance, security, and business value.
  • Developing and maintaining application features with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, QA Engineers, and other Software Developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing existing systems to ensure stability and performance.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience with C# and .NET development across web and/or desktop applications.
  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server, relational database design, stored procedures, and T-SQL.
  • Experience developing HTTP APIs and service-oriented or distributed systems.
  • Experience working with message queues, service buses, asynchronous processing, or event-driven architectures.
  • Experience writing unit tests and applying modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within payments, foreign exchange (FX), fintech, banking, or other regulated financial services industries.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications built with VB.NET, VB6, or older .NET Framework technologies.
  • Experience developing front-end applications using React, Blazor, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience integrating third-party platforms and external vendor systems.
  • Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, observability, and production support.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable software.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Adaptability, including the ability to work through ambiguity, define scope, and estimate delivery timelines.
  • Passion for continuous learning and adopting new technologies.
