Overview

The Platform Owner for the Virtualization & Backup team shapes the vision and delivery of Euroclear's on-premise infrastructure. The role leads a multi-location engineering team responsible for delivering secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure services supporting critical business and technology operations.
The role contributes to the future infrastructure landscape by driving platform lifecycle management, operational excellence, automation and technology modernisation while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, risk controls and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Service Strategy & Platform Evolution

• Define and drive the strategic roadmap for the Virtualisation, Backup and Storage platforms, ensuring alignment with business priorities, technology standards and infrastructure objectives.
• Own platform lifecycle management, including technology refresh, capacity planning, upgrade strategies and platform modernisation initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, resilience, automation and service quality.
• Contribute to the development of the future infrastructure landscape through collaboration with architecture, engineering and business stakeholders.
• Maintain visibility of emerging technologies and industry developments to support informed platform evolution decisions.

Operational Ownership & Service Delivery

• Own the operational performance, availability, resilience and recoverability of the Virtualisation, Backup and Storage services.
• Ensure platforms are operated and maintained in accordance with operational standards, security requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on stability, performance, risk reduction and service quality.
• Oversee prioritisation of operational, technical debt, compliance and transformation activities across the domain.
• Ensure effective management of incidents, problems, changes and operational risks affecting the platforms.

People Leadership

• Lead, develop and motivate a globally distributed team of infrastructure engineers and technical specialists.
• Ensure the appropriate mix of competencies, expertise and capacity is available to support current and future business needs.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and career development discussions.
• Support succession planning, talent development, recruitment and organisational capability building.
• Manage all people-management responsibilities, including objective setting, appraisals, leave approvals and performance management activities.

Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering teams, architecture, security, application owners, project teams and senior leadership.
• Communicate platform priorities, risks, dependencies and strategic initiatives to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Balance operational requirements, business priorities and technology constraints when making decisions and setting direction.
• Drive alignment across multiple technology domains to enable successful delivery of infrastructure initiatives.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure appropriate operational controls, governance processes and risk management practices are embedded across the platform landscape.
• Maintain compliance with enterprise standards, audit requirements and security policies.
• Proactively identify platform risks and drive remediation activities to minimise operational impact.
• Ensure resilience, continuity and recoverability requirements are appropriately addressed and maintained.

Technical Leadership

• Provide leadership and guidance across Virtualisation, Backup and Storage technologies, including VMware, Nutanix AHV, Cohesity and related infrastructure services.
• Promote engineering best practices, automation, standardisation and operational excellence.
• Support long-term infrastructure planning and strategic decision-making within the domain.

Experience & Qualifications

• Significant experience leading large-scale infrastructure, platform or IT operations teams in complex enterprise environments.
• Proven experience managing operational delivery and technology services across multiple locations.
• Strong understanding of Virtualisation, Backup and Storage technologies and associated operational processes.
• Demonstrated experience in platform lifecycle management, infrastructure transformation and operational improvement.
• Strong leadership, coaching and people-management capabilities.
• Experience working with operational risk, compliance and governance frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of Incident, Problem, Change and Risk Management disciplines.
• Experience driving automation and modernisation initiatives within enterprise infrastructure environments.

Group Technology Services (GTS) plans, builds and runs the global infrastructure of Euroclear, and is additionally responsible for the IT service management to the operating entities of the various Group markets. Group Technology Services operates its IT systems and IT services in such a way that, at an appropriate and benchmarked cost level, it can deliver the agreed levels of service to support the requirements of the business processes, for both normal operations and during disaster recovery.
